Representation:
My paintings are of course dependent on form, color and composition, but the imagery and ideas behind them interest me most. They raise interesting questions and reveal themes in life, like departure or healing or celebration, or even death. These themes are not usually apparent when I begin a painting. Gradually images become form and when I look at a completed painting it is sometimes like remembering a dream.
